Hello, Year  4 and welcome back to Bollinbrook School. We have missed you very much.  I am very ‘egg-cited’  to be your class teacher!

This term we are reading ‘The Iron Man’ by Ted Hughes and ‘Arthur and the Golden Rope’. Our Science topic this term is on solids, liquids, and gases (changing states). I am also looking forward to teaching  our Geography Topic on Rivers. Do you know the name of our local river?

There are many things to look forward to this year. As well as English, Maths and other usual subjects, we have some interesting topics in the following subjects:

Geography: Rivers, South America: The Amazon.

History: The Romans and The Anglo-Saxons

Science: some of the topics are ‘Electricity’, ‘Sound’ and ‘States of Matter

French: Numbers to 30, Animal nouns; In the garden I can see…In the sea I can see…In the woods I can see…; using the verb ‘to see’, additional colours (grey, white, black, alternative brown), foods relating to ‘The Hungry Caterpillar.’

AND this is the year you could receive your pen licence – so keep working hard on your presentation and letter formation.

PE

Year 4 will have P.E. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. For the moment, you are asked to come into school already wearing your P.E. kit. When you grow out of the old kit, please can you purchase the new kit (yellow top and blue shorts). This is so we have a Bollinbrook kit for sports’ competitions. Make sure you have  jogging bottoms and tops for the colder weather.
