I’m really looking forward to an exciting year with Rowan class. Mrs Heywood will be teaching on a Monday and Tuesday to cover my management time as part of my Deputy Head role. This year we will be covering lots of creative aspects and using technology in different ways to display all your amazing knowledge. The i-pads and the laptops get a thorough workout in Rowan!

I’ve got some great books to get our teeth into, covering all the different genres with adventure and intrigue, mystery, monsters and magic – something for everyone.

We’ll also be using our maths skills in all sorts of ways exploring reasoning and problem solving to really deepen our understanding of the maths curriculum.

I expect to see everyone getting completely stuck in and showing how amazing they are.

Daily reading at home is expected. Use a range of authors, genres and text types. See the links below to help your child to find new books and different authors that they may be interested in. When a child’s reading spectrum has been broadened, this has a positive impact on their reading ability, vocabulary range and writing.

Homework will be posted on Microsoft Teams – completed in the homework book or attached to the assignment on Teams.

Weekly spelling and an English task.

Weekly Maths task based on the learning in class.

Regular tables practice – all times tables up to 12 x 12, using TT Rockstars to support the practice at least 3 times a week
